Blessing of the Animals

Please join us at Holy Trinity, Lascelles (5 ch Pritchard) for a short Blessing of the Animals Service on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 16h00 - All creatures great and small are welcome!

On October 4th, the Church remembers St. Francis of Assisi (1226) who reminded us to love and care for all of God's creations. Our animals are a direct reflection of the beauty of creation, filling our world with life, wonder, and diversity.

Whether they walk, fly, swim, or crawl, bring your beloved companions and/or farm animals to receive a special blessing for the livelihood and joy they bring to our lives. All God's creatures have a purpose and a place in God's creation.

Please extend the invitation to this service to neighbours and friends!

Please gather outside on the grounds, weather permitting (indoors if poor weather - note that access to the chapel is at the top of a path that has a rather steep incline, although it does have a side rail).

Who is Invited: All people, pets, companion animals, and farm animals are warmly welcome! Take care to ensure that all animals are kept safe and are properly managed for the health and wellness of all. Alternative Options: If your animal companion is too shy, large, or unable to travel, feel free to bring a photo or a stuffed animal so that we have a visual as we pray for them.

Book Group Reading Indigenous Authors

The Reading Indigenous Authors book group is every second month: Sept, Nov, Jan, Feb, Apr, on the last Tuesday morning, 9:30 am at Church of the Good Shepherd; and, and a new group on the last Thursday evening, 7:00 pm at Wakefield Public Library. Soup-and-Baguette Lunch

GSW hosts a community soup-and-baguette lunch after service on the first Sunday of each month, October to April at 12:30pm. Come and bring family and friends to enjoy a warm bowl of soup and good conversation. Check the church calendar for upcoming Soup Sundays. Free-will donation is appreciated.
